A New Chapter
Life never goes as we planned. That was a hard lesson for me to learn as a child and is still a hard lesson for me to learn as an adult. We make schedules, research and work diligently to make sure life goes as we envision it to be, but nine-times-out-of-ten it goes in a whole new direction than was expected.
Many of you have been with me in the journey of writing this blog since it started in early 2016 and you have read articles about food, fashion, faith, family and pretty much every subject that interests women. Some of my posts have hopefully made you laugh and some have probably made you cry. Regardless of whether you had tears of joy or sorrow, I hope and pray that my simple words have somehow inspired you to live a life filled with a little more hope and sunshine each day.
I'm going to be quite transparent, the past six months I've been struggling with the entire concept of this blog---The Modern Female. I've asked myself: What does 'The Modern Female' really mean? Does it have a universal emphasis? Does it have a more personal meaning to me and every woman? Should this blog focus on one subject or many? I've been chewing on these questions for days, weeks and months wondering where I'm really going with this site. For some reason, I have a great burning in my gut that this website was meant for something more than just healthy recipes, yoga poses and fashion tips. Those areas are all fun and helpful, but I know God gave me this idea for something much bigger than myself and much bigger than the scope I had originally envisioned.
After spending the past six years working as a public relations and marketing consultant for multiple clients, I took a part-time position this past October at our church helping with a ministry called PrayFit that helps people see their health through the faith-filled perspective of the Bible. It has been a wonderful ministry to work with and I've learned so much from the leadership, but two weeks ago God took me in a whole new direction as I accepted the role of Global Outreach Director for the missions department of our church. It was completely out-of-the-blue and something I was not expecting to come along my path, but for some reason I know God opened this door for a greater purpose.
And so, just as my life shifted in a major way accepting the full-time position as the Global Outreach Director, I know that God has now given me a new purpose for this blog. From this day forward, I will be using this blog in every way possible to discuss the powerful, life-changing capacities of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how we can use the bodies and resources God has given us to reach the world with His love. If you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus as your Savior, then I hope my words will help to answer some of your questions about faith and the purpose of life or point you in the right direction. If you already know Jesus in a personal manner, then I hope the posts of this blog will encourage you to live an even more courageous, love-filled life that has an eternal perspective used for earthly good.
I am thrilled to start this new chapter with you and I know that God never makes mistakes or leads us into new adventures that He has not already planned ahead of us. I appreciate you so much and hope you will share with me the wonderful adventures and new chapters that God is bringing into your lives. We were not meant to live this life alone, but to embrace every joy and struggle together.
Thank you for not giving up on me, as your blogger and as your friend. I look forward to sharing many more beautiful moments together in this wild, wondrous adventure we call life.
Yours Truly,
Jennifer
