Dust Off Those Boots! The 2017 Boot Trends


Dust off those boots! Fall officially begins this Friday, Sept.22 and we get to wear some of the most fashionable, comfortable and versatile footwear of the year---BOOTS!!! (If you can't already tell, boots are one of my favorite pieces of wardrobe!)

So, why are boots so attractive, comfortable and timeless? Here are just a few tidbits of fun information that I think will make you want to wear boots even more this Fall and Winter.

Boots are comfortable and helpful. The oldest pair of boots was discovered in a Greek tomb dating back to 900 BC belonging to a woman who lived during the Ancient Geometric Period. Though the boots looked nice, they were obviously used as a form of protection for the foot, ankle and calf while also providing extra support for strenuous hiking and work.

Hikers, construction workers and military personnel have also experienced the benefits of boots for centuries affording them a more comfortable, supportive footwear while also preventing injuries and hypothermia.

Boots are stylish. This protective, comfortable footwear became a mainstream fashion-must during the 1960s when Singer Nancy Sinatra debuted her popular song "These Boots are Made for Walking". After that, every woman wanted a pair of thigh-high, stiletto boots to make a bold, feminist fashion statement.

Over the years, boot popularity has died down in the fashion scene but they have made a recent resurgence in both men and women's closets since 2010 with the influences of these brands: UGG, Versace, Alexander Wang, Kate Spade, ALDO, J.Crew and more. So, whether you are on the cusp of fashion trends or just really enjoy wearing your old comfortable hiking boots or UGG's, I encourage you to make the most of this fun footwear this Fall and Winter. Be creative with your wardrobe and you never know when you might be the next trend-setter!
