Glow this Holiday Season!

Last week, I shared in the post "Does your makeup need a makeover?" about how much we need to be mindful of our makeup products, their shelf-life and various forms of bacteria that could develop if we're not careful. It's time to get rid of the old and crusty makeup that we've been holding onto for way too long.

This week, I want us to start with a clean slate and a clean face! What do you want people to remember the most when they see you this holiday season? Do you want them to remember your beautiful clothes, stylish wardrobe, hot bod or bubbly personality?

Well, I believe that it is most important for people to remember you for your beautiful heart and warm personality, but before you ever say a word people will remember you by your face.

Here's how you can show off your gorgeous face this holiday season and bring a little bit more joy to the world by using these organic, fair trade products!

Highlight Your Strong Points

Look at your face in a mirror with no makeup on. What are your strong points? Do you have beautifully shaped eyebrows? Do you have succulent lips, nice cheekbones or enrapturing eyes?

Focus on your strong points with this routine:

  • Apply foundation and/or cover-up to minimize the appearance of scars, redness or sun spots with the all-natural RMS Beauty Cover-Up & Foundation.

  • Apply a few light brush strokes of blush to the side indent below your cheekbones with the certified organic ANTONYM highlighter.

  • Then, focus on your strong point! If it's your eyes, take a little more time to add beautiful shadows or "layers" of color to your eyes. This is a great Eye Makeup Chart that I think is a huge help for me and anyone wanting various looks! Click on the image for further tutorials.

  • After you highlight your strong point on your face, then make the other aspects of your face more subtle. If lips are your strong point, then keep your eyes more subtle and natural-looking.

  • Don't over-highlight different areas of your face; you want people to focus on one aspect of your face at a time or else they will be overwhelmed by color and not want to gaze at your face too long.

Lay to Rest Your Fears

Flawless skin is always a valued trait that we as women desire, but especially during the holidays, we want to look our best. A few ways to lay aside our fears of breakouts and blemishes start with these few prepping tips:

  • Keep your face clean by using a cleanser in the morning and at night, but avoid scrubbing and over-exfoliation.

  • Moisturize your skin after washing in the morning and at night. Preferably, use a more natural or organic moisturizer that allows your skin to breathe without adding more chemicals to your skin.

  • Use oil-free makeup products.

  • Be careful what you put on your hair because various hairsprays, pomades and other products can clog pours and actually irritate the skin. These are a few of the more natural hair products that are less harmful to the skin.

  • Keep your hands away from your face. Touching your face with dirty hands or nails can cause dirt to seep into your pours and cause breakouts.

  • Stay out of the sun. Excessive sun exposure and various oily sunscreens can cause further breakouts and redness. Here are some of our top picks for natural sunscreens.

  • Choose skin-friendly foods like fruit and vegetables, but try to avoid large amounts of sugar, grease and processed foods.

  • Drink lots of water.

  • Exercise regularly to cleanse your body and your skin; plus, you get that beautiful glow!

  • Chill out! Many studies find that stress contributes to acne breakouts, rosacea and red blotches.

Surprise Yourself

Surprise yourself this holiday season by trying new things! Take a chance on a new lip color or new eye shadow; put together a new color combination that you never anticipated.
